A faster morning peak and re-ordering at the table via QR.

Customers pick their coffee themselves on the kiosk, with every milk and syrup option on screen. Anyone staying to work re-orders from their table via QR. Lightspeed stays the POS, Upvendo adds the ordering channels.

The morning queue was the bottleneck. The solution isn't only at the counter — it's also at the tables.

What they wanted

  • Smooth out the morning peak without hiring an extra barista.
  • Let customers build their own coffee, with every milk alternative, shot and syrup on the screen.
  • Let working customers who stay all morning re-order without queueing again.
  • Orders keep landing in Lightspeed like today, no second system on the side.

    Intake call

    We map the rush: coffees per hour, mix of milk alternatives, and how many customers stay to work at a table. Based on that, we pick the number of kiosks and QR zones.

    POS partner alignment

    A short call with Lightspeed to enable the OAuth connection and validate the modifier structure (milk surcharges, extra shot, syrup).

    Setup and connection

    UpKiosk installed next to the counter, connected directly to Lightspeed. QR codes on every table, same menu flow. Staff trained briefly on the barista ticket queue.

    Go live

    First morning live, first table re-order through QR within the hour. From the second service, the shop runs autonomously.

How we solved it

  • UpKiosk subscription at EUR 150/month all-in, connected directly to Lightspeed.
  • Modifiers (oat, soy, decaf, extra shot, syrup) live in Lightspeed and sync live with the kiosk and the QR flow.
  • QR ordering on every table — customers scan, choose, pay, and the order joins the bar ticket queue with the table number.
  • Customer name is taken at the kiosk and the barista calls it out as always.
  • One order stream in Lightspeed Insights, the same reporting the shop already uses.
